Brighton: Next tasting on Easter Monday

It`s taken a while but we`re back in business as they say. I`ve secured a really nice venue and have got a fantastic tasting lined up. I thought pretty hard about where would be the best place to start, and arrived at the conclusion that there is probably no better place than Campbeltown.

Campbeltown is the remote peninsula protruding like a geographical banana from the south west corner of Scotland. It was was once the hub of Scotch whisky production with over 40 distilleries. Today there are only 3, one of which opened recently. Springbank is the driving force behind Campbeltown today, and in the face of adversity has managed to keep the flame burning.

Those who came to the first tasting may remember Springbank 10 year old. They are one of the few distilleries to retain their own floor maltings and produce 100% of their malt requirements on site. With a distinct maritime influence, the few whiskies of Campbeltown are completely individual and offer some of the most interesting flavour profiles around. If you want to learn the whole story then come along.

Here`s what we will be tasting.

  • Springbank 10 year old
  • Springbank 15 year old
  • Longrow 14 year old (peated Springbank)
  • Hazelburn 8 year old
  • Glen Scotia 14 year old

Venue: The Hanover, Queens Park Road, Brighton (opposite Butlers Wine Cellar)
Date: Monday 9th April
Time: 7:30 til 9:30
Price: £12 per person

How to book a place.......
Send me an e-mail stating the names of the people that you wish to book places for. I will send you a reply to confirm your booking. You then pay on the night, cash only I`m afraid! It`s literally first come first served, I can`t be fairer than that. If you do not recieve a confirmation e-mail then unfortunately you do not have a place. I will reply to everyone however to let you know if you have a place or not. I cannot accept anyone on the night who has not booked a place as I have to limit the quantity. If you book a place and find that you can`t make it please please please let me know asap because there is always someone else who will want the place.

This is a trial run at this venue, if it`s successful for the bar then I can get a permanent slot there. They have a good beer range and they serve good food till 9, so if anyone is pushed for time after work they can line their bellies at the venue before we start.

If you have any queries at all then please drop me a line. I look forward to seeing you soon and sharing some awesome whiskies!
